Propagation of Seed Balls at degraded sites in Maharashtra, sponsored by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (Ongoing)
The project involved propagation of 5 lakh seedballs of native tree species at 15 different locations in Maharashtra to improve the green cover. The substrate of seed balls was standardized in before preparation and propagation of seed balls. The germination percentage, survival and growth is being evaluated.
Development of Mass Culture of AM fungi, sponsored by Agrisearch India Ltd. (2018-2022)
Technology for development of Mass culture of AM fungi was provided to Agrisearch India Ltd., Nashik(M. S.). Biofertilizer lab designing and facilities for mass production of AM fungi were developed. The project involved propagation of phosphorus mobilizing biofertilizer for sustainable agriculture.
Biomonitoring and indexing of 56 rivers of Maharashtra at 156 National Water Quality Monitoring Programme Stations, Sponsored by MPCB (2020- 2021)
The study involved sampling of phytoplanktons, zooplanktons and benthic invertebrates in post monsoon and pre monsoon seasons. The diversity and saprobity indices were calculated to evaluate the health of rivers as per the guidelines of Central Pollution Control Board.
CO2 sequestration studies of plantations located at BPCL depots (2019)
The CO2 sequestration potential of plantations located at BPCL depots was conducted to evaluate their potential as a carbon sink and contribution in carbon neutrality.
Technology for treatment of leachate from hazardous waste landfill (2018-19)
An electrochemical process-based technology was developed for treatment for leachate from hazardous waste to Ramky’s Mumbai Waste Management Ld., Taloja.
Production of bioethanol from rice mill waste (2018-2019)
Feasibility studies for the conversion of Rice industry waste to Ethanol was conducted for M/s RaitebandhuAharodyam Ltd. Mangalore (Karnataka).
Mass awareness generation on plastic waste management (2016-2018)
The program was conducted to generate awareness on plastic waste management for preventing environmental pollution. The project was sponsored by Indian Centre for Plastics in Environment (ICPE) an ENVIS centre under Ministry of Environment,Forest and Climate Change, GoI. The training programs were conducted in four selected schools that involved around 350 students and 25 faculties. The training programs generated understanding among students on the properties and types of plastics, utilization in different areas, safe practices for disposal and recycling options. It has also developed common consensus to reduce the utilization of thin polythene bags as its littering increases environmental pollution.
