Prakkathan, student Eco fest on Sustainability was organized on 26th October 2018. The event was sponsored by SGS, JSW, Steelage and Novvo Craze. Media partner was NMTV. Chief Guest for the event was Prof. ShirishSangle, NITIE, Mumbai. In the event, 2nd Prof. PurushottamKhanna Memorial Talk was delivered by Dr. ShirishSangle on the topic "Environment Management and Circular Economy: Directing and Accelerating Sustainable Development". Prakkathan included following programs: CSR Conclave on the theme "Towards Sustainable Future", Debate competition, Quiz competition, Poster presentation and Valedictory session.In CSR Summit, CSR Heads from Siemens India Ltd., Tata Power, United Ways Mumbai and Nuclear Power Corporation of India have participated and presented their views on CSR and Societal Development. A puppet show was organized by the students of SIES Nerul Institute of Comprehensive Education in valedictory session in which awards were given to the winners of different competitions by Prof. P. V. Narayanan, Chairman, SIES SOP.

Prakkathan 1.0: the first edition of eco-fest on sustainability by the students of SIES IIEM towards spreading the word of sustainability to all the fellow students of Mumbai. It was a tiny step towards a bigger dream. the students would like to achieve but its ideas were strong enough to find support from sponsors. The sponsors for the event were JSW Steel, Anglo Eastern Maritime Academy, Environmental Policy Research Institute, Rutvij Salunkhe and Creative Constructions.
The fest was one day event in which about 60 registerations have been recorded from different colleges of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. It was inaugurated by Dr. Prasad Modak.
The main attraction of the event was the first Prof. P.K Khanna Memorial Talk.that was presented by Dr. Modak on the topic, ‘Sustainability is a matter of survival not choice’. The other events during the fest were film jatra, quiz, debate and photography competitions. A puppet show was organised by the students of SIES Nerul Institute of Comprehensive Education in valedictory session in which awards were given to the winners of different competitions by Dr. S. V. Viswanathan, Member, Managing Council, SIES.

Debate Competition
The debate competition held for the topic, Is Sustainable Development truly sustainable? , proved to be an interesting and brainstorming session for the participants, audience and the judges. The participant teams had a healthy discussion on the topic covering the issues like the economics of sustainable development, government regulations, noteworthy examples, the shortcomings and the loopholes in the concept, green jobs, with the debate mostly revolving around the renewable energy issue. The GAGAN team comprising Manali, Shailesh and Shivangi was the winner for the debate competition for their team co-ordination, presentation accompanied with facts and better convincing skills. The session was very well co-ordinated by the student co-coordinators (Pooja Sharma, Sagar Shinde and Ashonal Pereira) under the guidance of Ms.Rupali.Zele.
Quiz Competition
Inter- group quiz Competition was organized by SIES IIEM on 10th September 2009 among ‘Agni, Dhara, Gagan, Neer and Pawan’ groups under the coordination of Ms. Jyoti Koliyar. The programme was hosted by Ms. Payal Sachade. Group Gagan comprising of Manali, Shailesh, Deepali and Neha was the winner.
